Nuun AI Index

NUUN AI Index is our flagship annual benchmark of enterprise AI adoption and readiness — North America and MENA, six pillars, five maturity stages, open methodology.

Last updated:

Quick answer
The NUUN AI Index is a benchmarking framework developed by NUUN AI to measure enterprise AI maturity across strategy, data readiness, governance, platform, production deployment, and talent. It produces a comparable score that lets organizations read their posture against peers and against top-quartile practice, and scopes the sequence for any AI-practice setup engagement.

WHAT IT IS

The Index combines a large-sample quantitative survey of senior leaders with a deep-dive qualitative panel and a synthesis layer of secondary-source cross-references (NIST AI RMF, ISO/IEC 42001, Stanford HAI, McKinsey, Gartner, IDC). Respondents are sampled by sector, geography, and company size; the scoring model is published so clients can audit and rerun.

HOW IT WORKS

Organizations score across six capability pillars and land on one of five maturity stages (Ad hoc, Developing, Defined, Managed, Optimized). Industry medians, top-decile profiles, and common failure modes are reported openly. The Index is the evidence layer underneath NUUN's AI strategy practice.

WHEN TO USE

Firms use the Index for board reporting on AI readiness, for benchmarking against category peers, and as the diagnostic input to a NUUN AI strategy engagement.

What is the NUUN AI Index?
The NUUN AI Index is a benchmarking framework developed by NUUN AI to measure enterprise AI maturity across strategy, data readiness, governance, platform, production deployment, and talent. It produces a comparable score that lets organizations read their posture against peers and against top-quartile practice.
What does the Index measure?
Six dimensions: AI strategy clarity, data readiness, governance and risk management, platform and infrastructure, production deployment of AI systems, and talent and operating model. Each dimension is scored on evidence from leadership interviews, document review, and capability assessment — not self-report.
Who is the Index for?
CEOs, CIOs, CDOs, boards, and private equity investors who need an honest reading of where an organization sits on the AI maturity curve. It is also used by NUUN AI itself as the scoping diagnostic for AI-practice setup engagements.
How is the Index calibrated?
Against a benchmark pool of enterprises across financial services, healthcare, CPG, government, and technology across North America and the GCC. The pool is refreshed annually and scores are re-normed so the curve reflects current practice, not 2023 practice.
How does the Index connect to practice setup?
The Index is the diagnostic step that scopes a practice-setup engagement. It exposes the dimensions where capability is rate-limiting and defines the sequence in which the practice should be built — governance before production, data readiness before platform spend.
